Software Engineering for the Smart Grid (ICS 691, Fall 2012)

Software Engineering for the Smart Grid, held in Fall, 2012, focused on the issues and applications of software technology to support the modernization of our electrical infrastructure.  The course had two parts: in one part, participants read selected papers on software for the smart grid to become familiar with the issues, and in the second part they formed into small groups and carried out a project.

This course was intended for students with senior or graduate standing in ICS, EE, or the REIS program.

Visit the home page of the course to see videos of the final projects associated with the class, which included an open source, low-cost power monitor, and various enhancements to the WattDepot software system.
