Philip M. Johnson is a Professor of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of Hawaii and Director of the Collaborative Software Development Laboratory. He received B.S. degrees in both Biology and Computer Science from the University of Michigan in 1980, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1990. He has published over 50 papers in areas including software engineering, computer supported cooperative work, and artificial intelligence. He was a co-founder of hotU, an internet software services company, and has served on the Board of Directors of several technology companies in Hawaii. Since 1991, he has led the Hackystat Project, an open source framework for collection, analysis, visualization, interpretation, annotation, and dissemination of software development process and product data.
